A country-style ham with bone is cooked with apple & onion in the crock pot, in a mixture of apple cider, brown sugar, maple syrup & apple pie spice.
Score ham through fat layer on all sides in a cris-cross pattern. Place in a 6-quart crock-pot. In a large bowl combine remaining ingredients and pour over ham.
Cook on low heat setting for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours. To serve remove ham from crock pot to a platter, ladle off any excess fat drippings from top of cooking liquid, and serve ham with remaining sauce.
Notes:
This ham is all but effortless to make, but is sinfully delicious. I've been making it for Easter, Christmas and family get-togethers for years. The leftovers are fabulous for sandwiches and salads.
