
Slow cooked baked beans that are prepared with molasses, bacon, and onion for the perfect potluck dish.
Soak:
Soak beans overnight in enough water to cover, OR In 6 C water boil 5 minutes covered; remove from heat and let stand 1 hour. Drain and discard water. Rinse.
Cook beans:
Place beans in a large pot with 6 C water. Boil 5 minutes and then simmer until beans are tender (about 1/2 hour)
Bake:
Drain, rinse beans and put in slow cooker. Combine ingredients with 1 C warm water and stir well. Pour over beans, adding enough water to cover. Quarter onion and place on top. Cook on HIGH for 4-6 hours, adding water if necessary.
Notes:
For the effort involved, it's a good idea to make a double batch. Cooking times may vary
