Kil and Kraut


Enticing aromas will greet you at the door if your crock pot is filled with this kielbasa sausage and sauerkraut one-dish meal.



Ingredients:

  • 2 16 oz cans sauerkraut, rinsed well and drained
  • 1 lb fully cooked kielbasa
  • 3 strips bacon
  • 1 large yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp light brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 large red bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp course ground black pepper
  • 1 bottle beer, your choice

Method

Mix sauerkraut, brown sugar, garlic, mustard and black pepper together in pan. Add bacon, onion, red pepper, and kielbasa. Pour enough beer into pan to cover about 1/2 of mixture and cover. Bring to a light boil, then reduce to simmer. Cook covered on low for 2-3 hours. Uncover and continue to simmer until desired consistency is reached.

Notes: Best in a slow cooker. Follow above directions, and cook on low 6 hours or high 3-4 hours.
